Ida, a white oat released by Michigan State University, is a medium-height,
large seeded oat with good test weight and lodging resistance. Ida has
shown improved resistance to Barley
Yellow Dwarf Virus, the most common disease problem found in Michigan oats.
Ida also has shown some resistance to leaf rust. Ida will outperform Newdak
by about 2 to 3 pounds in test weight though it's straw is slightly weaker than
Newdak.
